SUMMARY:
BSST is seeking a highly motivated experienced individual to join our team in Irwindale, California.  The Physicist will fill the need for solid state calculations of thermoelectric (TE) material electronic structures and transport properties. This role is critical for supporting and directing BSST-led material development activities. Extensive collaborations with academic research community and national laboratories are expected.  The successful candidate will become a team member of TE Material Sciences department at BSST.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Rapidly calculate band structures for candidate material systems.
• Extend calculations to elevated temperature ranges.
• Provide guidance for new material development and synthesis.
• Make predictive models for thermoelectric properties.
• Manage external resources in academia, national laboratories and industry.

Qualifications:

• Fundamental understanding of solid state physics.
• Experience with developing methodology for calculations of semiconductor band structures and transport properties.
• Ability to translate theoretical findings into predictive models for experimental verification.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Education and/or Experience:

Ph.D. degree with emphasis on solid state material modeling in Physics, Chemistry, Semiconductor Engineering or relevant discipline is required. Must have a demonstrable, quantifiable track record in efficiently and rapidly developing calculation frameworks and generating predictive results suitable for experimental verification.

Work Authorization:

A permanent authorization to work in the United States is required.
